Picking flooring for your rental property

Picking flooring for your rental property

Is your rental property’s floor worn out and in need of replacing? As one of the finest property management companies in the Seattle area, we have excellent opinions on the subject.

Vinyl flooring

Vinyl flooring has been around since the 1930s and is been one of the most consistent choices for flooring in the United States because it’s so durable and can easily withstand all kinds of traffic even in the busiest parts of the home. Cleaning final flooring could not be easier, you sweep it. If a good sweep is not enough then a damp mop and mild cleaner should do the trick. Spills won’t stain if you wipe them up right away. if you happen to damage a vinyl tile, just replace the individual tile. You should be careful when moving kitchen appliances on sheet vinyl. as they may tear the vinyl which can be extremely difficult or impossible to repair correctly. Today’s vinyl flooring comes in large sheets or tiles and all kinds of colors and textures.

Hardwood flooring

Hardwood flooring can also be easy to clean and maintain. Cleaning is as easy as sweeping in using a hardwood floor cleaner and a flat mop. Of course, hardwood floors can scratch badly especially if you don’t use pads under the furniture. Repairing scratches can mean resurfacing the entire floor. Hardwood floors can also be damaged if spills are not cleaned up right away. But if the hardwood floor is maintained correctly it can last much longer than carpeting. Most people prefer living on hardwood floors.

Carpeting

Installing new carpeting with padding is less expensive than installing hardwoods. But carpeting will not last as long as hardwoods. Even if maintained correctly carpeting will wear-out and need replacement in about 10 years, depending on its quality. Maintaining carpet is a little more difficult, requiring not just vacuuming but also steam cleaning.
